Sparta, NJ — J.M. Rodgers Co., Inc., Customs Brokerage and Duty Drawback specialists, spread holiday cheer. On Tuesday, December 19, 2017, CEO James Rodgers and two employees spent the morning picking up, loading and delivering 500 lbs. of rice to the Interfaith Food Pantry in Morristown, NJ. This is part of the final “125 Days of Giving” for 2017, a company volunteer program at JMR.
In 2017, JMR donated “125 Days of Giving” to local charities in New Jersey. CEO James Rodgers believes that part of the company culture is for our employees to volunteer their time, during work hours to a local charity. “Giving an hour or two of our time out of our workday to helping our local charities is an important part of working at JMR. It is great for team building for our employees and a great way to lend a hand to the organizations we work with”, says Rodgers.
Throughout 2017, JMR has worked with the Morris Habitat for Humanity, Lyons Veteran Hospital, Interfaith Food Pantry of Morris County, Roots & Wings, NJ Fireman’s Home and local PBA’s. “It’s all in the numbers at JMR”, says Rodgers, we proudly donated and delivered 3250 pounds of food overall – turkeys, hams, groceries, and rice. We spent 6 days of building houses, hosted two golf outing for a local High School alumni scholarship fund and football team, raising over $20,000. In addition to the volunteering JMR also, granted a “Make a Wish” buying a playground for a child and, donated clothes to the homeless marines. This is just a few of the donations and volunteering initiatives that occurred throughout the year.
For over 65 years, JMR has supported the local community. But, owning and operating a business is a responsibility, however, not it’s not just about the company making money and our bottom-line, but we have a responsibility to the community where live and work every day. I enjoy giving back to the community and we will continue to do so as long as JMR exists, says Rodgers. JMR will start a new “125 Days of Giving” in January of 2018.
