I am happy to announce that after a considerable effort from many people on our staff, JM Rodgers has officially become ISO 9001 certified! This is a momentous day for our company, as we have always sought to hold ourselves to a high standard of continuous process improvement, and now we have formal recognition of the hard work and effort it took to put a rigorous quality management system in place.
This is an incredible step for our entire organization, and I’m very proud of all the staff members who put in all the hours and elbow grease to get our company on track to pass on our first evaluation. Being recognized as an ISO 9001 company puts JMR on the level of a world-class of companies that continuously pursue excellence.
For those unfamiliar, ISO 9001 is a quality management system (QMS): it’s a set of standards or framework that gives a business or organization a set of guiding principles that allow it to provide a product or service better and with consistency. ISO 9001 is the world’s most common QMS, with companies across nearly every kind of industry participating.
It gives JM Rodgers guidance and quantifiable ways to continue with best practices and to keep up with our commitment to continuous process improvement. It has helped us standardize the work and the reporting of it, to take clearer measures of what’s being done and how we can improve as well.
With the framework of ISO 9001 guiding us, JMR is poised to enter a new era as a company, where we will grow and improve in ways that were not before possible. This represents not just an incredible opportunity for JMR, but for all the clients we serve as well.
In addition to the ISO 9001 certification, we have also embarked on a project to utilize a Six Sigma approach to improve processes. A significant portion of both management and employees have been trained and certified in using the Six Sigma approach and have used the tools in the program to make improvements on multiple processes that have led to increases in efficiency and cost-savings.
Our utilization of both ISO 9001 and Six Sigma set JM Rodgers apart in the Customs brokerage and duty drawback industry. With this commitment to constant improvement, we can assure our customers that the already exceptional service we are known to provide will only get better!
