The “Section 301” duties on imports coming from China have brought big tariff burdens across thousands of businesses, and have been a hot topic for drawback. However, claimants of these may have heard that because these are a new form of duty being implemented, there was some difficulty in getting them to work with Customs’ ACE filing system. But it was announced this week that starting now, anyone that is filing drawback claims against these special categories will stop receiving errors, and will be able to proceed as normal.

The big problem was that the unit of measure (UOM) wasn’t matching because on the entry form the line looked blank, and ACE threw back an error. Any claims that had been filed and accepted need to be tweaked to perfect them, but should be allowed to go through. This is great news for our clients that were looking to begin programs based on these 301 tariffs.
